Breeze by PhilosComment: This picture looks a touch grainy, but otherwise a very solid entry. |

Iron Willby megryanComment: If I didn't know better, I'd think that Anthony was trying to wish me away into the corn field.
Good DOF. I'm not sure that I like the arms reaching out of the frame, but it does seem to hint at a reason for his penetrating stare. Although I'm not typically a fan of selective desaturation, desaturating everything but his eyes might have given this image that extra kick needed to score within the top 30%. |

Old Friends, Good Timesby dmv91280Comment: The angular crop looks more like a creative attempt to rescue a photograph than a stylistic decision made when shooting. The disembodied beer drinking arm on the left is distracting.

Hypnoticby duncesComment: Was this shot using a fisheye lens? This image looks distorted, almost as though the model's head is too big for her body. The soft focus works well here, but the distortion makes this look less like a portrait and more like a bobble-head figurine. |

Four Señoritas - Albuquerque NM Tricentennialby jemisonComment: Even aside from making the subjects squint, the harsh lighting here works against capturing a good image here. You might have been able to salvage this by placing a reflector on the ground in front of the kids, but the real solution is to avoid shooting in direct sunlight. |

Mommy I´m still hungry and now I want this size....by palmfrodurComment: This just screams "snapshot". The unkempt appearance of the kid makes this a sub-par photograph, even by snapshot standards.
At DPC, pictures of kids tend to be graded by a slightly different standard than some other subjects. So unless the image is well done (from a photographic, compositional standpoint) they usually don't score well. When the parent sees a picture like this they may feel a rush of love and adoration. But since the rest of us have no such attachment to the kid, all we see is what's in the picture. In this case the picture contains a messy looking baby.

Coachby suemackComment: Good use of bokeh, but the contrasty blobs in the background do still detract somewhat from the image.

All in the eyesby ConcreteDonkeyComment: The effect really shows off the kid's eyes. Unfortunately he looks like he's about to fall asleep. Because of this the result seems closer to "undead zombie child" than "blue eyes win blue ribbons". |

What is up there?by lastefComment: The hue is a bit too green for my tastes, and I'm not sure that I like the missing chin/ear. Good repetition of textures between his facial hair and the wall.
