Okay, jgirl57, here goes:

First, I did give this a 7 in competition because it was funny and cute. The expression on the cats face is priceless. What could have made this truly excellent? The diagonal lighting is great, but the background is cluttered. The top part could have faded to black without any problem. Cats being what they are, I bet you could have moved that newspaper out of the way, and found a better 'throne' for the cat to recline on. Finally, the area to the right of the cat's elbow doesn't tell much story. If it was mine, I'd crop at the elbow.
