Greetings from the Critique Club

I can see why you would enjoy this spot in Yellowstone. Not only did you see the majestic fall of water, you got to hear the roar of sound and perhaps even gather in a bit of the mist.

Now, you had some trouble managing your darks and lights, which is why it's a good idea to bracket your shots, if your camera will do it.

As it is, your waterfall loses detail and could be described in part as "hot" while the trees, especially those to the right are so dark as to be lost among the rocks. In addition, that lovely waterfall is smack in the middle of your composition. while sometimes this works, it would have been fun to see an image where the waterfall was over to the right cascading into the frame.

So, I'd consider this more of a 'record' shot. Once you have that one, experiment a lot and get different angles and exposures. You will be pleasantly surprised.

GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB

Hello clickodat! By the luck of the draw, I get one of your images again to critique.

Now, I don't know why you didn't get a better score for this very good image.

It is clean, sharp and certainly has enough purple in it to qualify for the Challenge.

Perhaps it is because you did not use more of the space available, or perhaps voters saw the purple
as secondary, rather than the primary focus of the image.

Frankly, I think it is a strong & original image and it should have done better in the Challenge. Keep 'em coming.

GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB:
We try to give an indepth review of the image randomly set before us. If you find this review helpful, please tick the box that says so. then the Critique Club members feel as if they are really helping!

Well, Janine, you ticked the box and received the best score you can get in a Challenge. Therefore it's difficult to find anything to critique in this fine image that our fellow DPCers have found to be the best of the bunch.

So, I would suggest that, if you have the time and energy, join the Critique Club and help others with their photography! It's fun and a new challenge, for sure.

You nailed the Challenge with your vanishing point railroad track - and I"m glad you didn't get squashed by a train in doing so.

If this was my image, I'd probably go for more dark tones to go with the predominantly light tones you selected in processing. This would give the image more drama and make it stand out among the competition. As you know, there were quite a few train track shots in this Challenge.

More dark tones to balance the lighter ones and perhaps more emphasis on the cloudy sky, I think would have pulled this image from the nice mid-five score you received to a higher number.

GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB:
After a long hiatus, I'm back working at the duties of the Critique Club, where we try to give an indepth review of the image randomly set before us. If you find this review helpful, please tick the box that says so. then the Critique Club members feel as if they are really helping!

Okay, this image has a lot going for it, simply because it is original.

Technically it has a bit of a problem, because I suspect the photographer wanted the b'ground to be solid black, but those unfortunate streaks to the right of the image worked against you for that effect.

Now, a purist might argue that you've given your runner two knees, but without them, you would not have the motion effect. So, that's okay, and besides it works.

What would really set this fun image apart would be if the stick figure were carrying something. Preferably something bright red, to give a strong focal point.

It's a good image. Personally, while voting, I gave it an 8, for originality.

Keep up the good work.

That's a whopper of a good photo.
And an excellent catch. Were you a basketball player in your halcyon youth?
Congratulations on your ribbon and on retaining your expensive camera/lens.

I "did" wonder what lens you used to get that exaggeration.
Funny and cute, rob. And another ribbon for you.
