Desert Moonlight by dsidwellComment: Congratulations to you and the voters for picking a winner. That̢۪s not an easy task with the wealth of excellent photographers/artists in this community. The challenge has rekindled my passion of photography and inspired me to 'go through the wall' I was stuck behind.
Thanks to all !
Tim
David, also want to thank you for comment you made on my entry... "Go Gino! Interesting use of flash and a longer exposure. I like his facial expression!" I consider your comment much more astute and relevant than all the 1's & 2's I got in the voting ! Message edited by author 2004-01-20 07:56:56. |

Eating Cornby GolferDDSComment: Great idea. Have been trying to convince friends that you have used 'falsie's' in this shot but they don't believe me... I like the picture.

Rising Above It Allby OlyuziComment: Very Interesting. What is it? I was under the impression that there are strict rules on displaying 'Old Glory' and wonder if this complies? THe background behind the stars looks very nearly black rather than blue. THe tree branches in the lower left give the photo a nice 'Plumb" . |

Ciggie break in the coldby kiwinessComment: Although I have a problem with the depiticion of \"Cig's\", this shot is technically excellent and meets the 'After Dark' theme as well as if not better than any other in the challenge. Kudos! As it turns out I rated your picture the highest in the challenge... Independent of the 'ciggie' ~ it's a winner. I particularly like the way you worked the lighting & exposure. When first viewed my eye is drawn to the bright spot in the picture whereupon the subtle , yet brilliant, glow of the cig is revealed. That feature would be lost on any that only judge from thumbnails. Features garnering my appreciation & pondering include; the source of 'smoke', as it's wispy look does not suggest steam nor do I think the ciggie or model could have produced that much smoke with one puff. Your light source(s) producing the glow on the neck, hat, chin & what may be the left side collar. The right arm, wrist & hand. Even the gaze upon the Ciggie by the model is conveyed very well. All of those features add up to a photo which is too good to be considered just a "lucky shot". You clearly exhibit the much coveted trait of 'Photographers Eye'. I rate this shot a "Ribbon Winner"
