A decent B&W conversion and good composition. The biggest thing holding this entry back IMO is simply a lack of interest. There's no context, story or compelling expression to draw in the viewer. It looks like you've used a somewhat wide angle lens too, which is rarely flattering. Try to aim for a focal length of 70-120mm for portraits, and give your subject some context to hold the viewer's attention.

The model and composition are good, but the lighting and B&W conversion are going to kill your score. It looks like you used a flash, then lightened everything to show detail in the hair and blew out the left side in the process. Any richness in the skin is reduced to a patchy white field, and the darkest areas of the eyes and hair on the left are gray. The black spot in the mouth is rather distracting too. Best bet would have been to even out the lighting with a reflector or white poster board on the right side and a softer light source such as a large window on a cloudy day.

Good photo potential, but a few issues will probably drag your score down to the low 5s...
All of the verticals and the horizon are tilted to the left (and not enough to appear intentional). DPCers are brutal on tilted horizons. I would have cropped just over the head to reduce that large area of white sky, and the B&W conversion seems flat (like a straight desaturation). If you have Photoshop, try using Channel mixer for conversion with Green as the dominate channel. Any or all of these flaws could have been overcome with a strong expression from the model, but this girl just looks like she doesn't want to be there, and there's no apparent connection between her and the buses. Take a look at a cropped, straighter version with a channel mixer conversion and I think you'll understand. ;-)

Interesting arrangement and above average B&W conversion, but a little weak on image appeal. Personally, I prefer to have the subject looking into the frame rather than drawing the eye out of the photo. Those two sparkles on the front edge of the laptop certainly could have been cloned out in Advanced editing, too. Nice use of DOF.

Hmm... a challenge custom-made for Larus, but just in case there's ANY doubt, let's schedule it at the same time as an X3-class solar flare so there will be photographic nirvana sitting right outside his window. I think with a wider angle, you'd find that the streams of light spell out your name. Oh, and just for kicks, let's have heavy fog over at Shannon's house at the same time while he's setting up the telescope. Curse you, foul ribbon hog of the far north!

At least you had the dignity to keep the size below 720 pixels so the shot we vote on after this doesn't get an automatic 1 by comparison. Yeah, it's another 10, but this is the last one you get dammit! I'm burning my mouse after I click the button, I swear. ;-P

Elsapo (duh). I can spot your entries a mile away. I'd like to see a bit more detail or shading on the skin, but this is still outstanding, as usual. 9
