really harsh flash lighting, and the shadow on the lower-left corner are a problem, Perhaps using a difuser or bouncing the flash would help.

It's a bit harshly lit. Perhaps using a difuser or bounce, or natural light with a tripod would add interest.

Cool! Nice shot. My father was an engineer, and I have some wooden casting models of turbine compressors from the late '40s... they're handsome objects. Wish I wish I'd have thought of that!!

The lighting is really dull -- you could move the subject to a sunny windowsill, or even take it outside for strong natural light.
