Composition is pretty good, but I'm thinking it might be nice with just a little less space at top. Cool photo! | Photographer found comment helpful. |

True, the sky does seem on the verge of being blown out at right, but I think it works here with the overall lighting. Nice shot :-) | Photographer found comment helpful. |

You must have been able to establish great rapport with him, a very key element, IMO, for this type of shoot. Again, great control of your light, and even nice catchlights in his eyes. That background color is great, I think it sets him off very nice, his hair and skintone and shirt, nice choice! Minor nitpick is the small black area at bottom right, but it is a minor thing. Very nice job! | Photographer found comment helpful. |

He seems to have a nice, warm personality, and you captured it, it comes out in the image nicely. One minor thing, if you wanted a suggestion to try for slight improvement, there are catchlights there in his eyes, but they seem 'small', maybe trying for a reflector to catch a little more, or even a strategically placed light, or diffused flash or something, just to get a little more catch light. Oh, and working with glasses, can be easy to catch glare and unwanted reflective spots, you've avoided well. I think, for headshots, framing like this (cutoff) work fine, this is a very nice shot, great job :-) | Photographer found comment helpful. |

| 08/06/2007 07:05:28 PM | bridals1.jpgby jeroweComment: Here is a quick easy way to vignette, I think gives a lot more control and evenness than free handed burning- Click to show rulers, choose your rectangle marquee tool, select a rectangle at say, 1 inch in on each corner. Set feathering to 2oo. Your rectangle selection will have nice rounded corners and a nice fading feather blend. Go to selections, hit inverse, this makes your selection from the marching ants out to the edge of frame. Then make a levels adjustment layer, move your dark and mid sliders to the right to taste. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 08/06/2007 02:02:55 PM | jazz soloby swankFotoComment: Actually, I think the wb is not a big factor. For me anyway, when I see a shot of performers, I know they are on stage, with stage lighting, I at least expect to see the effects of that live lighting. I see more weakness in the framing of the shot, honestly. The framing feels 'uncomfortable'. It's not a head shot, it's not a half or 3/4 shot. His arm is cut off on the bottom of the frame, and the guitar is not prominent. I'm left really wishing I could see more of the performer, adding context to the scene. Especially in a 'Solo' theme of the shot, I'd like to see that he is jamming out a solo, if you know what I mean. Also, a minor thing, but the angle has the line of lights running through his head, a little bit of an awkward compositional feeling. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
