This is a stretch, but I'll let it slide for creativity. I can at least think of an article that might follow, on raising this type of flower perhaps.

This could have met the challenge if you had put more thought into your headline. As it is, it's just a funny snapshot. Something like: "New Statues at Hyde Park Attract Young Visitors" Try to think what the article accompanying it might be, or what story you are trying to tell.

Not sure this would get in the paper for the said event, but it's creative and interesting. I would crop a bit off top and bottom, but that's just me.

Maybe in a 1950 newspaper, why so grainy and high contrast? This could do with a bit more focus, and might even have done better in color. Even when taking a scene like this, it's important to think about your focal point, which right now is the bench at the bottom center. The tree midcenter would have been a better choice, since it would pull the eye to the whole image rather than down to the bottom.

Hmm, not sure is we'd actually see this one in a newspaper, but I guess it meets all the requirements. I would like a teensy bit more focus, right now it looks almost like you tool the Blur tool to it.

Good. Maybe a more specific headline? Adding the town name might give it a bit more impact.

This one would have looked better in color. Otherwise nice entry.

Poor headline, bad composition, too dark, out of focus, lucky shot. Minimal basic editing could have improved this, and a decent headline (topical, specific, active) would have convinced me to rate it higher despite the quality issues. Crop out the guy's hand on the left, and maybe even the cop on the right, brighten and increase the contrast, see if you can sharpen at all, though you really should deal with that issue when you take the shot.

LUCKY. You got to a crime scene, but your composition is poor here. I would suggest either cropping the body out (the partial streetsign in the top corner is distracting and the feet are already cut off anyway) or next time choosing to move your focus to include only the cop and the body so both are fully visible.

Nice sports piece, it's a good image, the headline and image together tell the story without even needing an article.
