The composition and lighting in the original is perhaps slightly more appealing but this is still a bloody good photograph and a deserving winner.

This is an outstanding shot.

However, the red bandana comes across as little more than an unnecssary distraction - I recall you doing the same thing with a shot of a boy eating a Mango. Didn't work then and it doesn't work now. In both cases the power of an otherwise magnificent shot was significantly diminished by your processing decision.

This shot is strong enough to stand alone as a standard duo-tone. I'm sure you know that....I think you should have more faith in the DPC voter - I don't think you needed to resort to a gimmick to get a good score on this one.

Great catch. Pleasing composition. I can see a little haloing where you've darkened the background, but my monitor is currently too bright. Still - there is perhaps a little interest in the background - taking it out leaves a bit of an unnatural feel (though, will be rewarded by the voters no doubt). 7
