I came back to this three times before I figured out what it is, call me dumb/ All I could see was a strange pizza with an odd tower in the middle. Now I see it's a guitar, I still can't get rid of the pizza image.

Unfortunately all the recent images edited with the HDR technique make a real down home scene like this look drab. I hope the voters can look beyond the false hype of post processing and see this as a lovely scene and a carefully composed imgae with an interesting interplay of leading lines and contrasting textures.

ooh - Razzle dazzle - the Buzby Berkeley of the animal world. Soon the camera will pan outwards to a chorus line of lovely peacock dancers in white feathers and this one will begin her solo song. Look she has a tiara with her fancy costume. She's the loveliest bird on stage. (Unfortunately for my daydream, she is a HE and the peacock song sounds like someone screaming Help Help.)

I love a photo that tells a story. I love how the focus extenda all the way to the mountain across the ocean. On the 20th of some month in 1988 something profound happened here. it wasn't a death because the image extends so far outward into distance and time. It contrasts the small safe home with the allures of the wide wide world. The boy left home and went out to seek his fortune fairy tale style? Someone was hurt by the leaving and waits by the window for a return. You could write a whole novel based on this one image. Wonderful.

Wonderful! love the snow background - when a kid id out snowboarding, the world is like this - nothung matters but him and the snow. (one suggestion, clone out the thread coming off his glove, something about his stance makes it look like a cigarette if you look quickly)

Probably it suffered from "poor voter monitor callibration syndrome" as many darker images do. Have you looked at it on other monitors? Apple vs Pc? the processing looks drab on mine. how about submittibg it to the PPChallenge to see what others would do with post process and cropping. you are correct that it should be/could be a stunning image.

ps. perhaps all that unidentified bright stuff in the dark left side is distracting? i have one of those brains that likes to know what i am looking at - if i cant identify it, it confuses me- now that the challenge is over, you cab crop or edit it out

ooh in bears version i see it is a mirror- so sorry- that was completely invisible to me.

Another with a yellow cast from the incandescent lighting - color balance in photoshop will fix you right up. Increasing the contrast, wither in camera or in photo shop would help, you dont have any true black in the image which means the tonal range is limited. Can you see a histogram on your camera? You need more on the dark end of the histogram. Also the light is so harsh, meaning that you have bright spots on each candy - for more even lighting you can use your exact set up but put a piece pf cloth , it a paper towel, or a tissue over the light source to diffuse the light for a more pleasing image.
