When Morning Gildsby jasonlpriceComment: Interesting. It seems like you have deliberately pushed the water way overboard for the dramatic feel (see challenge descript).
I think it's a bit much on the yellows and greens though. Bring it back 10% or so overall and 15-20% on the yellows and greens and I think it would still have that 'pushed hard' look, but without toying with the edges of unpleasantness. |

Fight fire with... safety matchesby NiallOTuamaComment: This is a standout image because it is very different, especially with colors, yet some of the choices you made are really interesting.
I like the black flecks on the 'ground'. To me, they give a nice bit of grittyness that could be complemented very well with some large, soft monochromatic grain for a bit more 'retro' feel.
The unusual background is interesting too since it suggests the coloring of a night horizon. This is complemented by the cloud of smoke. This therefore suggests water for the bottom half and you end up with the suggestion of a landscape.
Note the match box cover which has a classic feel, but contrasts with the overall color scheme of the pic.
Very thought provoking and well done.
PS. Classical guitarist? |

Solitude and Peaceby cryanComment: Wow. this is really strong!
I really like the processing. I bet it would be really cool in a low sat as well. Maybe even a duotone... there's a really nice balance between the smoothness of the water and the punch of the static areas. Might be cool if you worked with gentle colors to highlight the difference between the two sides of this image.
A great idea - definitely working towards the 'impact'. |

Not of This Earthby elsapoComment: Great job! Did you notice that the clouds almost take on the shape of a face looking down towards the bottom left?
Great concept too. I wonder if the person in the center might have become even more surreal if you dodged the heck out of the bottom of the pants so it looks like it is totally made of light... |

Star Dreamingby Shadowi6Comment: This is really great. I have rarely seen such a clear display of red and blue shifts in stars. It really enhances the 3D 'tunnel effect' on your star trail circle.
I don't think that the city lights worked against you at all in this pic. |

Morning Mist by Bear_MusicComment: Bear, I just love the way you always look for classic but overlooked ideas in photography.
I learned from this! Thanks!
If you were a Mexican wrestler, you would be "El Gran Orso Didactico" ;)
That 5D is so smooth. Great stuff! |

IMG_0665_1-dancing-crow-800.jpgby sfaliceComment: I quite like this. Minimalism is so peaceful.
There seems to be just about the right amount of detail in the shadows and the edges are not too sharp. Well done! |
