The composition of this shot is quite good, although I would think a tighter crop may have revealed more detail in the web, and in the raindrops.
The photo doesnt give the impression of wind (I understand you had trouble with a lack of wind).
Theres not much else to say on this photo, it shows good focus, a nice composition, good lighting. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

This image has a lot of impact. The lighting in this subject is very nice, yet the focus is slightly off (I believe the back of the bulb is in focus). The composition is quite good, although I would have to suggest that something other than a black background would have been a little more interesting, as the bulb appears to be "floating", maybe showing the lamp it was in.
The colours in this image are nicely realistic, and the "freezing" of the shattering bulb is excellent.
IMO a brilliant photograph. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Composition: The nutcracker and shells are a lovely subject, although I must admit that I am rather distracted by the "frozen" peices of shell in the air. I'm sure they are there because they just exploded from the shell, yet I cant help but feel like they detract from the image under the two peices.
Maybe a mixed background (a table top with the background suitably blurred) might have given this photo a bit more realistic life.
Lighting: The lighting in this subject is brillant, it gives the wood, nut and shell peices a wonderful colouring. I think another light source may have given a little more depth to the nutcracker, as the black background gives the appearance of being "cut out".
IMO a wonderful picture and a good show of "broken" | Photographer found comment helpful. |

This photo is quite inspiration, I feel like grabbing my camera and running for the kitchen!!
This photo at first glance is quite good, but on a closer inspection several points come to light:
Lighting: The eggshell has brilliant lighting on the lower right-hand side, yet the top of the egg has been overexposed to the point that it is just white with none of the wonderful grain in it. The egg yolk is obviously quite a marvellously "perfect" egg-yolk-yellow, yet because there is a lack of lighting on that side, the yellow fades into oblivion. The background is very flat (lighting-wise) and could have done with a little bit of emphasis to show more detail.
Composition: The cropping of this photo (whether by camera or the crop tool) is lacking. Cropping is a deliberate tool. Either deliberately crop some of the egg out, or crop all of it in. Don't just leave a little bit out as it seems to state that there is some misunderstanding between you and your tools. There is an amazing amount of black "space" that has been left in the right and top right corner. If it doesnt add to the photo, then you shouldnt include it. If the bowl was visible (other than the blackness of it), that would be a reason to leave it in.
The focus in this image is spot on.
This image is nicely put together, although could be improved upon greatly. Its a good starting point, and I would hope that you would work on it a few more times to see what else you could get from the same idea.
What may have worked better for this composition would to have turned the bowl 45 degrees clockwise, therefore bringing the yolk and the opening of the egg half into the light to illuminate the yolk, and edges of the shell, yet leaving a partial darkness inside for a little mystery. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

This photograph has a certain morbid appeal to it. Ones eyes tend to travel repeatedly over the subject to see if one is really seeing what one is.
The composition on this photo lacks a little. The focus is tight on the centre of the subject, and provides excellent pattern details, yet it is so tight that the rest of the subject is out of focus.
While the graytones are excellent, I do believe that a little more exposure, say a shutter or 1/125 would have given better highlights to the scales.
Trying to imagine the subject as "broken" seems to belittle a serious event. Death, whether in an "unthinking" animal or in a person is more of an end than something that is broken. What is broken can normally be fixed or at least replaced. Also the title "Circle of life' depicts that there should be birth somewhere in the photo, which it isnt. Maybe the idea was "Circle of life broken", but without that last word in there it is hard to be certain what part of the photo is depicted as broken other than the dead fish.
The mid-gray tones of the photo tend to make it near to impossible for me to tell whether it is noise or not, which is a good and a bad thing. I cant see any noise, because there seems to be a lack of detail in the background/side areas.
IMO this photo could have been edited slightly, levels adjusted, contrast added, to have made it qquite more spectacular than it is. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
