written in sandby posthumousComment: Posthumous - This is a pretty abstract shot. It's difficult to tell exactly what I'm supposed to be seeing, even after reading the description. Its difficult to determine how far away you were when you took the shot. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the shot was, "What is it?" And there's not enough to really grab my interest. It looks like the 1/15 sec exposure still gave you a bit of camera shake. It makes it not perfectly clear and although I don't think its a huge drawback to the photo overall, the voters tend to hate that. I didn't vote in this challenge, but I think I would have voted along the lines of the masses on this one. I wish you would have made the lines in the picture more of the focus of it.
So bottom line for me is I really don't get it. I don't see any relevance to the challenge looking at only the picture. Sorry. I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time. - Bob |

Ode to Deb by mpetersComment: I think I would've tried framing this one a bit differently. Maybe a portrait crop with the bottom of the handrail in the corner of the shot. Great idea, There is a ton of potential with this subject. 7 |

Winter Solstice by digifotojoComment: Forget the challenge on this one, go for the icy trees shot. the shadow of the tree is not isolated enough to make it effective. If you had a single tree on a large flat plane, that's a different story |

Ringby sam_13Comment: Honestly, is this the best book you could find to do this? This is yet another photographic cliche and they can be effective if you do them well. I've seen this picture done 1000 times, never in a travel guide. I reckon that makes it original. Not effective, but original. |

Shadows in the skyby gysComment: Too much water, not enough sky. I just told someone the opposite thing a few photos ago. Thy sky is glorious in this photo, I'd feature it more. 6 |
