Cornyby bigjComment: If this fly is real (and I'll assume it is), then great capture - and in fact I can let it go that I think it's not quite sharp enough.
If the fly is fake, and this is composed, more care should have been taken to get the right area for maximum sharpeness.
The colours are slightly too muted for my taste, but that's ok, as the green on the fly pops out nicely.
Well done (6) |

grannyby shamerComment: Nice monochrome however you do loose quite a bit of detail in the shadow. If this in intentional - I think it works generally for low-key, but not so much here - if it's my monitor, sorry!
Compositiion and lighting are strong and the touch of the droplets set it off.
Well done (6) |

Weight of the Worldby mpetersComment: I love this shot and a great approach to the challenge. Great colour in the orange, woody, and the background.
The light from the right is a little too harsh, but overall a stiking images. Expect this one to finish highly.

Bottle of Wine, Fruit of the Vineby HipychikComment: Nice studio (I assume) shot there. Light and exposure is well controlled, although I think you maybe should've have spent some Photoshop time on the shoulder of the bottle.
Nice composition and nice shot overall. (5) |

Abstract Asparagusby kteachComment: Great colours on this and a creative use of shallow DoF.
This is a crackin' close-up, good luck (7) |

Pink Grapefruitby XileboComment: The composition on this is great and it's a classic shot. I just feel that the lighting is a little flat. The colours don't leap off the screen and punch me in the face.
Sorry, (5) |

From the Vine to the Wineby karenkComment: There is nothing that is wrong with this shot - and pleas don't take this the wrong way - but it's not that interesting. Well shot, the exposure is well controlled and the DoF is spot on, but it's not WOW.

Q: Fruit or Vegetable?by TonyTComment: Fruit - this is a confusing world.
The arrangement of the objects is good on this, however knive + chopping board = chopped (although I would have accepted sliced ;-) tomatoes.
The colour in the tomatoes is good, but becarefull of the blown highlights, they tend to pull the eye away.
There also looks like a bit a Noise Reduction went on there, things look a little soft and a touch too smoothed over.
Good luck with this (4) |

Healthy Pyramidby DigiFotoBuddyComment: IMHO the highlights are far too blown on the tops of the more shiney fruit.
I find it odd how there is a harsh shadow underneath the front row of fruit and then a colour cast by the fruit onto the background.
The colour are nice and punchy and it does fit the challenge well. (3) |

Fruit Salad, anyone?by levyj413Comment: I like the colour and the composition of this, however I feel it is let down by the blown highlights on the top of the apples and satsumas.
As I can see some dark shadows at the edges of the friut, I suspect that this was shot on white paper, rather than a light-table, and some post processing was done to acheive the brillent white background. It looks a litte too cut & paste for my taste.
Sorry to be so mean (3) |
