Comment:
For me the expression on the duck lends itself to a non-centred composition. The white reflection on the water on the right is also a distraction - perhaps it could have been cropped. Would have been even better without so many ripples in the water. Otherwise a solid attempt for this challange.

I'm sure some will score low simply because of size. I don't mind this, but I am concerned about the blown out highlights in the centre. Better exposure would have scored an extra 1-2 points in my mind. Definately worth going back to reshoot - lovely structure and could have some cracker colouring - I'd also aim to shoot just a touch earlier and get some more complimentary colours in the sky.

I like this very much. Good job on keeping the sky out of the frame. Title draws attention to the great lines. Good composition and I think also good exposure. Well done - I hope you score well...

Nice lines. Looks a bit enlarged??? I support the concept, but I would have liked a smoother texture that suits the lighting - the pattern on the curtain too closely resembles digital artifacts from low quality light sensors - an unfortunate distraction. I think also the top right corner detracts from the symetry of the rest of the image. Pay close attention to the edges too - they apear either out of focus or enlarged, and suffer from sharpening effect.

Good lighting for the subject. Wish it wasn't an open challange and you could drop the sky a few stops. If the blow out on the sky was avoided I would have given 2 points higher - I find it too distracting. Otherwise great image.

I find myself searching for a deeper meaning... is there one - I am prone to be daft on occasion... Cool colours though...

Well focused and the eyes are very appealling. I would suggest a tighter crop on the right, but I know that may be intentional given the challange. I also find the out of focus elements on the left off-putting - perhaps because they are right in the zone for thirds. Overall a solid entry.

I like macros and I really like the colours in this. Too much sharpening for me (watch the halos around the edges), and I would like to see a little more DOF. I would try this one again attempting to draw out the fine purple feathery elements in the centre together with the yellow pollen - would make a nice contrast IMO (but perhaps would then not meet the challange but would make a nice image).

I do like this idea and the colours. IMO the black extends too far into the frame and creates an unsetteling feel when the rest of the image is quite serene. I would also have liked to have a clearer focal point within the flower - perhaps the centre. But overall an attractive image.

Like the idea and the colours. Looks over sharpened to me and a shame about the blowen out highlights on and around the head. I do like how the bug is perched...
