Speeding Past the Shuttersby secondglantzComment: A perfectly timed shot! It is interesting that the windows he is passing are shut while the third at least has the shutters open. I would guess he is an acrobat. Rule one of a great photo- choose your background and you chose well. I would venture to guess that it is cropped but not a lot from the original. Lighting and timing are spot on as well! |

Wine and Candlesby thenettiepComment: A difficult one. It sounds like you went to a lot of effort to set up your shot and you got an interesting result. Is it the worst picture here? Definately not. People expect clear, sharp pictures. YOu have a great range of nice soft tones and the red color gives it a focal point. I think it would stand better as a part of a set of images than it does by itself. If you want the abstract, maybe just include a better hint of what the subject is. Even just the bottom edge of something. You will get a lot of negative "blury out of focus" comments on a picture like this, but decide yourself if they are valid or not. To score high here, you need a clear, coloful shot that tells the story in one easy to decipher image. They don't like ones that make them think or examine it more closely, although these are usually the more interesting sorts of pictures. The other ones if you saw them in a magazine or newspaper you would go "nice picture" and turn the page. Pictures like yours require more effort on the viewer's part. |

Enduranceby sherComment: I might have moved the bird up to the top third. The shadow would balance a little better there I think. The eye wants to move up and across and we are going across before we get up high enough in the frame. |

Almost Thereby SonifoComment: Might have been more interesting as a vertical, rather than horizontal, composition to show more height. With the title of "Almost there" I would look for the climber in the upper thirds. The red jacket does draw your eye to him which is good. NIce shadows and textures on the rocks. |

Sitting on 1/3by XileboComment: It is great lighting and sharpness but it doesn't have much happening for me. It is more an excellent snapshot than a photograph. Nothing of interest is going on. |

Frameby bledfordComment: Yes, the image is divided into thirds, but not according to the "Rule of Thirds". It is also unfortunately uninteresting. It is shape but not subject matter. |
