You need to learn how to correctly re-size your images for the challenges. Your resampling has come out all blocky, see EddyG's Tutorial.
As far as the actual photo is concerned, perhaps the composition is just a bit too busy, and the main subject gets a bit lost in all that background. The lighting (I presume on-board flash) is also a bit to harsh.

If it's been validated, and you have selective desat, I'm assuming this was done on a p&s with one of those selective colour functions (like my Canon IXUS). If so, kudos to you even more for getting such decent bokeh out of a p&s. Nice work.

I love the background. You could have simplified the composition perhaps. Maybe a square crop to get rid of those slightly distracting stems on the lower right. Still, great shot. Nice colours.
