Greetings from the Critique Club Sara!
So sorry that your first image with us here did poorly because of resizing. It looks like your technicals were okay but it's hard to tell much because of the pixelating issue. The flash might be a tad much as the flower looks to be a bit hot. I would certainly like to view the original so I could give you a valuable critique.
Looking forward to seeing more of your entries and welcome to DPC Sara!
Cheers - Phil |

You need to learn how to correctly re-size your images for the challenges. Your resampling has come out all blocky, see EddyG's Tutorial.
As far as the actual photo is concerned, perhaps the composition is just a bit too busy, and the main subject gets a bit lost in all that background. The lighting (I presume on-board flash) is also a bit to harsh. |

This photo is suffering from a few things. First and foremost, it seems to have quite a bit of artifacting, most likely from the method you've used to resize. I suspect someone has already mentioned it, but if not, take a look at this tutorial on preparing your images for challenges. //www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=26
Secondly, it looks like you used an on-camera flash and that it gave you quite harsh lighting in the foreground.
Lastly, the background is quite distracting and unfortunately not out of focus enough to help support the subject of your photo. A wider aperture and more distance between your subject and background can help with that. |

this could have been a better picture had it not been so pixelated. and the direct flash makes the photo a little hot. |

Nice idea but the flash has hardened it some. |

a bit too pixelated. Try increasing your picture size on the camera. It's always best to go large (more than 1600x1200), then small. It will come out better. Good capture though. |

This image is very pixelated. Perhaps this happened when re-sizing. The colors are nice, and it looks like the focus was good, but it is hard to tell. The bottom of the image is not so bad but it really shows in the top portion.
There is a tutorial about resizing for dpc, please read it and don't give up. |

You have some pretty funky pixelation going on there. You might want to re-check your method of resizing...? |

I'm sorry, but the quality of this picture is just abysmal. You used only half of the allowed file size! |
