Now Serving Number: 05-02by FraksterComment: Hello from the critique club...
1st of all for me the shot seems a little bit too dark. ( I know it is a b&w but I think it would have looked better slightly lighter). Unlike one of your comments below, I don't have a problem with the bright spots through the trees.....However, your camera angle I believe could have been altered to make a more powerful picture.
On a different note, I am not understanding your title.....However, I never score or critique based on the title.
I hope this was helpful to you. Keep shooting.... |

Buddhism & Bicyclesby QikiComment: Hello from the critique club...
As far as the quality of the b&w it's a nice shot. Your dof is good. Your subject is well defined. Unlike your other comment I don't have a problem with the way he is looking. Looking towards the left does not bother me at all. The problem I do notice is the bicycle. I think in the location it's in is a bit distracting. Mainly the handlebars by his head. I think it would have done much better if he was in front of the bike. I still think the bike is necessary for your shot....I just would have chosen a different location. Overall nice shot though. Happy shooting... |

I like the amount of detail in your shot. I also think it follows the challenge very closely. It's nice but I think it scored about right. It is definitely a very caring / loving image. Good job |

Wrinkles and memoriesby denissprayComment: Hello from the critique club...
I think you did an ok job matching Mark's style. These challenges are always hard to match the styles. There is a well defined subject....good DOF...Nice lighting. This ends up making a nice black & white. Good job |

The Emergency Door by romilComment: Hello from the critique club...
To tell you the truth I had to look up who Mary Ellen Mark was before I critiqued this pic. I think you matched her style nicely. I agree with your comment about the pic being skewed. That to me is a bit distracting but it didn't seem to hurt your score. I really like the man looking directly at the camera. I think that adds tons of interest for me. To be quite honest I have no negatives for you. (That's a good thing I hope) Congrats on the ribbon. In my opinion well deserved. Happy shooting |

Bears go to heaven too!!!by Ja-9Comment: Hello from the critique club...
Janine....Overall nice shot. Nice fluffy clouds. The sign is very crisp and clean looking. However the shot is missing something. Where are the bullet holes??? A sign like that in Louisiana would have at least 3 or 4 bullet holes in it. It's good target practice. Nice shot though. Keep it up. Happy shooting |

I want attention....by TeddyBareComment: Hello from the critique club...
wow stunning image. The DOF is awesome. You have been able to bring out every detail in the feathers. I can almost hear his piercing screech. The lighting is a bit harsh on his bill, however. That really is my only negative. Overall good shot...I do think it should have scored slightly higher though.
Happy shooting |

Family Tombby primabarbaraComment: I like the lighting on this one. The POV is also good. The crop is not bad but I probably would have brought it in slightly on the left |

The old wise birdby ilkaComment: Hello from the critique club....
1st off I need to say that I do disagree with your 1 and only commentor. The DOF is great...... I love how the focus is on the eye. That adds alot to me. It makes the bird look at me and that draws my eye. I absolutely like to see the background and the foreground are out of focus. I think it really works for this shot. Another thing I really like.........the colors.....absolutely brilliant. Overall I think your score was a little bit low......
Unfortunately I cant give you any negative marks on your shot. I always try to give a few negative aspect of a pic to help a photographer to improve....The only prob I really like this pic. Anyway nice shot and keep it up. Happy shooting |

1st I'll explain what I like: I love the framing. The trees frame the elk nicely. I also like the amount of detail in the trees and grass. Your focus is spot on....
OK there is only 1 thing that I really think hurts this pic. Lighting. The light in the background I find too harsh. (I am sure this was taken in mid day). I did not vote in this challenge but I would have given you a 5.
Overall nice shot. Keep shooting |
