Fancy Ballsby BeefnCheezComment: Greetings from the Critique Club -
First let me welcome you to DPC. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of this place as I have.
This picture unfortunately doesnt grab me. I am not really sure what it is, not sure I want to know what it is. From looking at your notes I can see that you werent really that crazy about it either. One day you will look back at this and laugh (I have many pics that I look back at and wonder what I was thinking entering - way too many). But dont let this deter you. Keep on playing, keep on learning, keep on entering and find out who it is that you are as a photographer. It's a neverending journey. I hope you have fun with it.

Into the Lightby RulerZigzagComment: Greetings from the Critique Club -
I will start off with the fact that I gave this a 7 - which in a dismal challenge was one of my higher votes. I like the graininess, I like the varied levels of shadow going back. I may have punched it even darker making the front stone almost a true silhouette. It doesnt have anything really standing out to say "WOW" but I felt it stood out well in the challenge.
My biggest issue is the border. You have this dark gloomy image wrapped in a bright white border. I would have probably gone with a black border or no border at all. It is just an odd combo in my eyes.
I figured this would have placed higher. Whatcha gonna do.

Spark of deathby snafflesComment: Greetings from the Critique Club -
I wish I had yoru description available when voting on this image. It didnt grab me during vote - I was one of your 5s. I like how the sparks reflect off the teeth - but the concept in general didnt connect with me.
However - after reading your description I found a new appreciation for the image - a better understanding of what you were shooting for. It completes out the image much better for me now.
I know this doesnt affect your score nor does it offer any photographical commentary (not sur eif photographical is a word). But I am glad I pulled this image from the queue. I dont go back often enough to look at image safter challenge.

The Three Degreesby rooumComment: Greetings from the Critique CLub -
Well - a 3.8. Pretty harsh score but one that would be expected with a shot like this. This is not an insult - just a perspective knowing that the 2 second viewing of images by DPCers will have an impact.
But hanging out and looking at this image for more than those 2 seconds I am actually enjoying it. Seems like good silly fun. An entertaining accident. I can imagine the people yelling at you "up here - our faces are up here!".
Not much to really add s far as a critique. Dont let it discourage you. Its all just a silly game.

JRby KelliComment: These are the snapshots to keep. I love these caught moments of children in their own worlds. I just sit here looking at your boy and wonder what exactly it is he is seeing and thinking. Wonderful. |

What do you wantby MelethiaComment: Love it! Love the colors and the perspective. The detail on her face and the fade to softness is great. How the whiskers quietly and unobtrusively manage to be in the entire image is just wonderful. And her eyes seem like little blue worlds all to themselves. |

tuba_charlieby bassboneComment: This is by far the best image in the challenge. Spot on lighting, brilliant concept, probably one heck of an expensive tuba. My top pick for the challenge - 2. |
