Wow, what a fantastic portrait! The main thing that strikes me is the clarity of the image... I don't know if that's the right word but I feel as though the image is real and three dimentional and that I could step right into that world from my computer. The colors are beautiful and complimentary to each other, the focus is superb, and the pose and gaze of the dog are perfect. I love the background - I think it does a great job of enhancing the subject - and the way that the focus fades off in the background really engages me. The only thing I question is the brown elements on the grass; I wonder if they are necessary, but I'm not sure the image would be better without them. All in all a wonderful and amazing photo, one you should be very proud of.

Despite myself (I don't prefer the cliche of "jumping in the air in front of a sunset or other dramatic landscape"), I have to give this a 10. It's because this is so absolutely engaging, really... it feels like I could hop through the computer monitor and be with the subject right now.

Aaahhh. Very effective, I must say! In fact if I might venture a guess as to the thoughts behind the voting, you may have gotten so many 1s due to the shock factor. And the shock factor is not a bad thing as you really did accomplish what you were going for. What I think would improve the photo is better lighting (the shadow in front distracts somewhat), eliminating the distractions in the background (the right and the upper left), and composition (showing your entire subject can be important). These three elements are very important in photos - consistant lighting, clean backgrounds, and non-cut-off subjects are sort of "rules" of photography, by which I mean that if they're done "wrongly", it can be good as long as there is a reason for it (and I don't see a reason in your photo). Again, great job on the blood... it really does look real... you should definitely think about trying a horror challenge if one comes along!

This is a nice image overall! I love the composition and you certainly met the challenge. I agree that color may have improved this. Another thing is that unfortunately it does seem to me to look a bit like the last-minute thing you said it was. What makes me say this is that the extreme bottom of the subject's nose and around the lips do not look entirely clean or as smooth as the rest of the skin. That's just a thing I notice whenever I see pictures of young children. If this had been advanced editing you would have been just fine in that regard. I kind of like the edge of the face being out of focus because to me it adds to the dreamy, thoughtful feel of the photo.

Well the white balance and the somewhat harsh lighting I don't need to comment on too much. I think the main thing that I could see to improve this would be the actual personification. You chose a great object - I can definitely see how this would seem to be a person - but putting it in this particular situation doesn't really work that great for me. I don't feel emotionally engaged by the idea of what the object is going through. What might work better for me is to keep the ascending pose but add some more elements to the scene so that the object could be interacting with or reacting to them.

I would have enjoyed this much more without the small umbrellas because I feel their bright colors detract from the lovely greens. Still a beautiful image.
