Lonesomeby ArtifactsComment: Excellent image. Great detail in the wood grains; the form of the shadow is composed so that it is a strong element and leads my eye to the mountains. It all just works very well for me. Nice job. |

A Brush with Decayby moodvilleComment: Beautiful colors and exposure. Composition is nicely done, too. My only comment is that my eye is really drawn to the texture of the rust, but it is out of focus. As a viewer I wouldn't mind having less detail in lines than in letters/numbers or fine detail. |

Shadow and Linesby cimarron98Comment: Beautiful abstract image with some nice lighting, but I do not think "desolation" when I look at this. |

The endby mtreitComment: Nice lighting, but maybe too dark. There is way too much of the image that has nothing to look at. Maybe that was a choice, but as a viewer it, IMO, would have been more interesting to see a faint amount of texture or shape in the shadows.
Great concept and composition. |

Texas Relicby DennisFComment: Composition is good as is your exposure. Use of B&W is a good one for the subject and lighting conditions. space between trees in background is a bit distracting and keeps pulling my eye in that direction and away from the focal point of the post. Minor comment, though. |

when you are stuck in the past ...by sainazComment: Powerful image, but I can't say I think "desolation" with this. Lonely, depressed, desperate, hopeless are all words that come to mind from viewing this. |

Rotten Paintby A WeaverComment: Your use of high contrast here really works well. It gives the image a very stark and uninviting look. Nice entry for this assignment. |

trapped...by wetlandComment: Excellent entry. A key ingrident to a desolation image, in my opinion, is to have a lone subject that is dwarfed by its surroundings with a sense of depth and unendingness. This does it all. Your exposure is great, too. You've kept good detail in the shadows and kept some detail in the "sand?" towards the top. Is this a real landscape or a model? |
