petey.jpgby icu1965Comment: It is like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito in Twins...mine being the fatter of the two. Too bad Remi's eyebrows connected up.

petey.jpgby icu1965Comment: Holy crap..Petey could be Remington's twin brother! Remi's ears are a little longer and floppier, but other than that they look damn near identical! Coloration on the face, legs and body. Hair texture on his belly. Even the few stray white hairs on the tip of his tail! If it weren't for the shorter ears, I would have thought you stole my dog! |

Amber Tidesby aliquiComment: In response to your thread, I am leaving a comment. I think the white is what is "hurting" your image. I say "hurting" because it is not a bad image, but inattention may have kept the votes in the mid-range.
Our eyes are drawn toward bright areas of an otherwise dark or balanced photograph. So while there is beautiful color in the sky and interesting detail in the rocks and dark water, our eyes keep getting drawn to the middle of the photograph...to the white. Again, I would chalk up the mid-range score to inattention. Voters saw it, perhaps liked what they saw in the sky, rocks, and water, but could not hold focus long enough to appreciate these items more, as they are drawn to look at the white area.
Hope this helps,

Early Morning Riseby drewhosickComment: Comment: The key to sunset/sunrise shots is to have a secondary point of interest. Your primary is the sun. You have presented this evergreen tree very well as a secondary point of interest. The shapes of the gaps in the tree and the branches adds a lot to this photo. Good job.
Criticism: Overall the photo looks to have too much contrast, this is seen in the grain of the sky and the sharp drop from orange to black around the sun. If this was done on purpose, perhaps a tighter crop on the bottom would help.

Life-size Scale Modelby Rob OComment: One thing that might improve this already great image is to bring the church steeple and tower (on left side) back into sharp focus. They are the same distance from the viewer as the buildings in focus, but because they sit higher in the image, were chopped out of focus the horizontal focus band. Great use of the "fake model town" trick! |

STLGTG.jpgby ladyhawk22Comment: We should have had a shot with everybody in it...I know photographers don't like to pose, but it would have been nice...we could form a WPL team! Ok, no, I'm no good with challenges! But at least we'd have a picture with everyone in it. |
