Thanks for showing us what some very simple items can look like when set up by a talented, creative person. You're inspiring me to keep playing around!

Oh, what a gorgeous shot! All of it - the curve from one side to the other, the DOF, the use of the rule of thirds, the high contrast ...

That does it. Between this and the others of yours I've just been commenting on, you're now one of my favorite photogs.

After all, us S2 ISers have to stick together. :)

I just LOVE shots like this, where normal people who don't have a huge studio show us how it's done. I'm thinking of setting up something like this in my basement. My initial budget is about $5: for a couple of pieces of posterboard and some black cloth as backdrops. Oh, and one of those LED lights. Maybe a flashlight with some wax paper over it. :)

Ha! Another creative effort.

Please keep on going for the creative shots. You'll nail the photography end eventually. Me, I'm struggling to find things to shoot in the first place!

I'd be curious to see you put this up in the forums and see what someone could do with in post-processing. I've been astonished at how much people improved one of my shots.

Then you: a) learn what else you could do and b) get to post an edited version that looks even better. :)

I like this a lot!

First, because you actually made something. I mean, the other bazillion entries really found good ways to capture something other people created, but you had an original idea.

Second, because I think it's an attractive shot. Some of those sparks on the left look like little bugs flying away.

This is absolutely fantastic. Doesn't hurt that I just watched "For All Mankind," a terrific documentary with real footage from the US space shots. Or that I have two young daughters of my own; some of my favorite video footage is of them when they first walked.

One of a few favorites from you.

I really like this image, and it's going in my faves.

I can't quite do it the justice ubique did, but it reminds me strongly of a similar oasis in my life. My wife's family has a cabin on a lake in Vermont, and we spend a few weeks each summer up there.

This cabin is where things go to "die" while still being used. My favorite spot is an easy chair of some old vintage, probably numbering in the decades. It's in the corner, with windows on both sides. While sitting there, I can't see outside, but I can hear the kids playing.

Thus, it allows me to delve into whatever I'm reading, or take a nap, or whatever, but when I want to, I can rejoin the world in an instant.

One more quick look at your picture makes me feel sorry for whoever was enjoying that book when the phone rang, or someone was at the door, or the bathroom called.
