Arches in the Blue.....by NikonJebComment: I am surprised that this didn't score better than it did. It is a great photo and the use of duotones enhances the photo, as opposed to many of the entries that just converted a photo to dutone to fit the challenge. It is a shame the voters didn't appreciate your efforts more. It is still a nice score, but I think it should have been higher! |

Sushiby h2Comment: The depth of field looks surprisingly shallow for this to have been taken at f/10. While I like the high-key treatment, my only gripe would be that the plate and sauce dish blends into the background a bit too much. If you could have kept a little more edge detail I think it would enhance the photo some. But of course that is just my opinion, and there are probably others that would disagree with said opinion. Overall the image looks very bright, and I wonder what would happen if you added a bit of contrast to it to make the colors pop a bit more. The flash or lighting effect on the Wasabi takes away from the detail of the spicy paste.
Overall you have captured a plesing image of a food that I love to eat. I just think a bit more contrast would make it that more appetizing!
I hope that you do not mind, but I wanted to show you what I was talking about with my commments above. I downloaded your image and made the changes to it that I was talking about. I apologize in advance if I have violated your space in any way. I also do not in any way claim to be anywhere near as good as you as a photographer or photo editor, I just wanted to show my personal taste of how I could have done this photo if I posessed the skills to take it in the first place. I will be more than happy to delete this photo immediately as well as this comment upon your request.

2007 Mustang Shelby GT - See offices on left for details.by Dirt_DiverComment: Originally posted by NikonJeb: I don't know what this is, but it's NOT a stock Shelby, if a Shelby at all. I have some terrific images of the real thing, in black, white, and ragtop if you want to see the differences. That aside, good imagery.....I like the white negative space. Really well executed. 7 |
Looking at the outtakes, this sure looks like a real Shelby to me. I would sure like to see the difference between this and a real Shelby.
Sorry about the DQ Joe. It appears the DQ's were heavy when it comes to brightening or darkening images in this challenge and that is a shame. But, as we all know, it happens. I see you are putting some nice photos up with that D40 of yours. If only this site would run DPL2 so we can put it to some good use for the team. Sigh...oh well.
Congrats on a great shot anyway. Message edited by author 2007-12-19 05:13:18. |
