I really like the way those petals spiral around each other.
This looks just like a plant that grows around here called Buffalo-gourd. Very similar to an entry I made in the purple challenge last fall (a bit of a stretch for the challenge and my centered comp failed miserably)

I'd be curious to see what yours looks like fully opened.

There is a kind of moodiness with your composition. I think that the shadows really add drama. What about cropping out the thin shadow on the left? I think it might detract a bit from what you have going here.

That's some root system! There IS enough detail to see the 2 cotyledons (seed leaves) just to the right of the lowest part of the stem. Cool shot!

The fringes of these petals remind me of some exotic creature in the ocean. I like the color variation of white with the purple.

I really like the bright contrasting colors against the dark background. Some of the details in the white stamens may have been lost bc of the direct light overhead.

Nice macro. My eyes are drawn to the stamens. Maybe playing with the curves a bit would darken the petals underneath them to make them stand out a bit more.

I like this version best. I find that partially-opened flowers make interesting subjects. The shape of the leaf on the bottom nicely frames this.
