the processing really kills this image for me. I am guessing you were going for edgy and grungy but you pushed the processing too much.

I recall this image. Waaay back in voting I gave it an 8. I thought it was a very creative way of portraying a disappearing landmark.

Self portraits are always tough especially for things like focus. If your focus had been on your eyes this image would be great. It almost looks like the focus is actually behind you.

The background is also quite busy and really draws attention away from your face.

The pose itself works well and the composition is solid. The shirt you chose is quite complimentary and while quite brightly colored actually helps bring attention to your face.

strange but quite interesting too. I mean technically there's problems but I think they actually add to the impact of this image.

Topaz. There it is. Does it work here? mmm...yes. I might be getting tired of everything getting topazed but it does work here. You're lucky.

really debatable whether this is a portrait or not. On the one hand it may capture the essence of you. On the other hand, it appears to be a picture of a shirt and some hair. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt I think.

Challenge aside I do find the image compelling, well composed and well lit.

Now how can anyone give you anything less than a 10? *lol* Alright. We all love you Bear but you aren't nearly as pretty as some of our other members. :)

Ok...to the shot now and all kidding aside. Your shot is a good representation of your character and shows a bit of who you are. Incorporating the sun was pretty cool and adds a bit of drama to the shot. The background, while mostly blurred out, unfortunately is still a distraction. Your focus is a touch off and looks like the camera decided to focus on your beard. Pretty hard to get really good focus on yourself so that's completely understandable.

Composition is ok but I think a lot of people went with the bullseye nearly dead center framing. For self-portraits its the easiest. Worse tragedies have occurred but it might have been worth trying different framing.

Overall? A pretty good job and who knows? maybe you have another profile pic!

not a fan of the selective desaturation. For it to be effective, what you leave in color needs to be more prevalent. In this case, it is barely noticeable and is a little unsettling once you do notice it.
