Roger - I'm looking at both of these on a 22" LCD flatscreen - it's brand new and has been calibrated - whether that means anything is anybody's guess.
Photo 1 is definitely lighter and shows more detail especially around the foyer of the building on the left. It appears, however, that the lines of the buildings are not as sharp in this shot and there is a little bit more noise.
Don't know if this helps any - I think we all might have the same problem.

California Brown Pelican

Amazing colours in this bird. The pelicans over here are all B&W with a light pink beak, black eyes and a bright yellow ring around the eye. I have never seen a pelican this colour. Brilliant shot to get such detail in the feathers and eye.

Don't fully understand how this HDR works. Will have to do some reading up. All I know is that you produce some wonderful shots with this process, and this is just another one. good job.
