Takeoverby AaronComment: The angle of the circuit-board really upsets the composition for me: doesn't seem to gain anything by being tilted like that. Like your interpretation of the challenge though - especially like where the face merges into the pcb. |

matrix survival kitby timboydwhiteComment: The high-key is good here, and obviously the elements are appropriate. I have a problem with the composition of the subjects though - kind of too busy to get the clean techno effect that the high-key lighting seems to call for, but lacking the detail that might make it more interesting. |

"Neo, Trinity... NOW!"by swaroskjiComment: Interesting shot. Obviously relevant, but in the end just falls between abstract and representative: the background doesn't seeem to serve much purpose to me - too blurred to place the shot, too busy just to give a depth to the focus. |

Time to go.by jonrComment: Reflections on the clock are annoying - as is cropping out the handset cable. Also think you've placed the elements to far to the edge of the frame - just outside the thirds lines if you like - but the empty space seems too much the subject of this shot. |

Feeling a bit like Aliceby floydComment: I like this border - really helps the aspect ratio of the shot. The image is OK - good technical shot of two significant elements from the film. Doesn't have anything outstanding for me though. |

Blue or Red? What is realityby rhipsterComment: I like this being of a child rather than an adult - has great overtones of the implication of the idea. Not at all sure about the 'pills' - look like lumps of plasticene, to the extent that they distract a little. Technically, I'd have tried a little gentle fill-in on the face - then you could have lessened the exposure a little to prevent those slight over-exposure artefacts on the hands (but only very slight). Nice work. |

Why, Oh Why...by rickhd13Comment: As a de-saturated photo this is OK - but the absolutely head-on lighting doesn't help you for me: I'd like to see some shape to the pill, it could almost be a cardboard cut-out here. The contrast of texture could also be brought out more - which would make an interesting parallel with a real and constructed world. |

Butterfly Fantasy by dsidwellComment: I liked this shot a lot - though I don't think it's a 'great' photo, it was just a little too clean for my liking. I don't see that it's presented as a nature photograph - my first impression was how the hell did you get three butterflies to stay still for so long, then i thought they must be dead, and then i thought that they were obviously not real butterflies - that thought process took about 2 seconds.
Paganini - would you have been more or less annoyed had these been dead butterflies?

In Low Earth Orbitby magnusComment: Just doesn't quite seem completely sharp - presumably that macro DOF thing: the top of the flower is OK, but lower down the petals has started to go out of the field, which doesn't dissociate the flower from the background in the way your title implies you wanted. It also seems more pink than green, but that's only a minor point after all these colour challenges. |
