This is a really unflattering and unpleasant view of this poor cat although kind of amusing. At first I didn't like it but on second viewing I've changed my mind. I had a thought that it would look much better in black and white so I downloaded it and converted it to grayscale and I was right. Much more striking and appealing. You should try it out.

I'm guessing the habit is meant to be the cat using the scratching rope. I call that instinct not habit. While I'll concede that individuals of higher functioning animal species can have habits, claw sharpening is something all felines do. My recently deceased cat had an endearing habit of sleeping on papers and open books. His mother had a habit of tapping paper suspended in air with her paw as if she was dribbling a ball. I'm not talking about paper someone would hold out for her in play. She would come across a piece of paper hanging over the edge of a desk or book or something and then start tapping it. It has to be seen to be understood. Too hard to describe. Anyway, the point is these are individual idiosyncracies whereas, claw-scratching is instinctive and neccessary to the cat. I upped your score because I think it's a much better shot than when I initially looked at it but you still lost a point because I don't think it meets the challenge.

Cops Habit

Visually cluttered background (flowery, striped wallpaper, horizontal lines of the mini-blinds, vertical line of the moulding) which doesn't really go well with the image of a cop (it looks like the cop is in his kitchen). This would have worked better if the cop was eating the donut on duty somewhere since you are working from a stereotype. The image itself is very contrasty. That bite isn't really convincing. It looks very set-up. On the plus side, the cropping is good for a candid portrait if you lose the cluttered background.

Eating Habits: Good or Bad?

This is too small to really get much out of it. The man in the plaid shirt in the foreground has a strange orange halo around his head. It looks like he is holding a frisbee in front of his face. This is basically a poor snap shot. Consider spending more time waiting for an interesting moment and framing your subject so that there isn't so much visual clutter. Some examples of visual clutter are the disembodied head which seems to have its nose stuck in the denim jacket person's butt, the aforementioned orange halo man, the woman with the bright turquoise shirt in the foreground and whatever that black and white thing is coming out of her shoulder.

The main subject is much to dark and my eye is drawn to all that clutter in the background which, unfortunately, is very brightly lit. This just has the look of a poor snap shot. The slightly elevated angle makes me wonder if you held the camera over your head and off to the side to get the shot. This would account for why the backgroun dis lit so well and the face isn't.

This is just way too dark. The key chain practically disappears right into the background.

While this depicts a habit, it does so in a rather dull, literal way. You have to work a bit harder to make a still-life of economics and calculus text books visually appealing.

This isn't lit particulalry well and the details aren't crips enough. This should look lucious and delicious but it isn't tempting me. It looks rather dewey for some reason (frozen, hasn't had time to thaw?). The composition isn't bad but the cake is falling off the lower edge a bit.

This is a bit too dark. I like the perspective. I generally don't like goofy, set-up shots but this one isn't bad. I upped my vote by one after looking a second time to write this comment.

I like aspects of this photo as a candid. I would suggest that in the future you move around a bit more to eliminate (or at least place in a less distracting point in the frame) clutter like the folded umbrella which is growing out of his head. It also would have been better to get a shot when there wasn't so much smoke obscuring his face. The smoke *is* good, don't get me wrong, but it's not (generally) a good idea to obscure the face of the main subject. I do like the station wagon in the background with its hatch open. It adds a timeless feel. I'm upping my original vote by one point after having another look.

Instinct not habit. Photographically yoru subject is out of focus and the scene is very contrasty. I like the point of view but I think it would work better in black and white because all the different squares of color add visual clutter.
