My favorite of the series. The wider crop imparts a luxurious comfort to the old leather sofa and shows off interesting details of her surroundings as well. The reading material makes her face illumination look completely natural (it probably is, but if you hid a small flash in there, you adjusted it to perfection). This would be a fine portrait to frame and display.

Wonderful having a man standing stiffly with new-store-perfect clothing like a mannequin to contrast with genuine mannequins with their more relaxed outfits. Amazing capture.

From the thumbnail, it gives the impression of a bird flying away from home plate. In the larger version, the radiating lines focus attention on the batter and make the image look like a quick painting. Nice capture of the essence of the situation.

Large gold hoop earrings and arm bracelet, face looking up as if telling a fortune, and long hair flowing echo the feeling of a gypsy woman in her tent. The lumpy object in her hand is shaped like a potato, but makes me think of Eve offering an apple. The ambiguity stimulates a lot of thinking -- as is true of much of art. The observer's creativity is energized by the creativity of the artist. Now I am wondering what innovative turns you will take after the sharpless side challenge is over.

Night of the Living Dead, or some other zombie movie for sure. There was a thread about art and photography in which one member asserted that photographs are not art because they just reproduce reality. I hope she is wrong.

Business cards sure are hard to design. In this case, I think the font and contact information work fairly well - elegant and stylish. But having a large close up of an eye would work better if it could be instantly grasped as a beautiful eye.

Unfortunately, the reflection of a globe produces blotches, highlights, and straight lines that make the eye look very wrong - blurry at best. Upon opening the image, my first impression was that the eye is most likely diseased -- the opposite of attractive or desirable. Even with your explanation, the globe takes a fair amount of work to perceive. The idea of substituting a "world" image into an eye might be worth futher attempts (clever idea), but I suspect that even a crisp version would clash with what we expect to see in an eye and would be a serious subliminal negative.

At the thumbnail level, I thought this might be a card you developed for an optical shop (the word "Images" easy to see, large eye easy to detect). It made me expect a contact lens promotion. Others may see it differently. You might want to look at your next versions from a couple of arm lengths away to see what a casual observer might detect at first glance.

You image definitely captures part of the "urban landscape", a concept which is a lot broader than some posters recognize. Thank you for confirming that this really was not intended for the "rural landscape" challenge. I think you are right that a lot of DPC members understood that this was most likely a posting error. The diagonal element and uncluttered wall focus attention on the subject. He isn't as scruffy as many of the characters I've seen in similar circumstances, but you have to capture images as you find them.

Because the simultaneous challenges had very similar names, it seems like an understandable error worthy of some leniency. Knowing that ruling on exceptions can be difficult to handle consistently across differing circumstances, I wonder if the site council would consider removing it from your cumulative average for votes received (if that is technically feasible -- maybe by removing it from the competition and recalculating) if that is something you would seek. Of course, it may not have a big impact either way since you have been in 37 challenges, but the recognition of your situation might be worth something.

Might have fit in the "speed" challenge. Moon pictures tend to be all alike, but this one is a welcome and original variation.
