| 03/13/2008 01:17:07 PM | Apocalypse by LonzComment: Let's see... messy, blurry and disorganized. Good! I have no idea what I'm looking at, so I'll call thisan abstract. I'm not really engaged by this 'tho, but it is interesting to behold. Easily above average IMO. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/13/2008 01:12:25 PM | Color Insanityby androgeusComment: This is one of a precious few abstracts that I might rate above average, simply because it seems to have just enough of an "unintended" and chaotic liquid prism in it. So congrats, because this makes it by the skin of it's teeth from mediocrity.
I only say so because many entries are lacking in a truly unintended consequence of light and color, due to their over-planned nature. I'm not awarding too much in the way of creative points, though. A precious few entries dug a bit deeper to find more engaging, and interesting means of conveying "blurry mess". | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/13/2008 01:05:17 PM | Purple Pandemoniumby BudyaComment: Nice use of the abstract to achieve blur, chaos and an interesting photo! Maybe could have used more "mess" - but that's a subjective term, and shouldn't cost this badly. Perhaps a more engaging subject would help too, but I'd call this above average, and nice to look at! I studied this for a few minutes and found what looks to be a lady in a night dress hidden in there... that pulls this ever so fractionally above average, since it compells me to look for more imagery within the photo. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/13/2008 01:03:51 PM | Venus Meltingby JunieMoonComment: A patent abstract, in a wide open challenge that would have allowed for more creative license. There's alot of these here, and they aren't as engaging or interesting as those that explored the challenge criteria deeper. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/13/2008 01:02:13 PM | Repressed Desiresby artvetComment: I'm really dismayed to see so many simple abstracts in such a wide open challenge. You have a fine image here, and the muted colors look good, but when the consequences of your camera action, and play of light and color seem so intentional, it makes it hard to qualify a disorganized, messy element here.
I was really looking for more creativity, and more interesting, engaging subject matter, and not simply abstracts. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/13/2008 12:58:37 PM | Gentleman with sunglasses and shopping bags, walkingby e301Comment: I really like this entry into the challenge, even though I don't find this particularly engaging. You succeeded where many did not, though, in presenting the core implications of such a subjective challenge criteria.
You have blur, creatively (if not compellingly so) through your window, which is appropriately messy, and with chaotic, apparently unintended consequences - congrats on that! Since many entries seem to miss this element.
Disorganization is self evident here, and the play of light and distortion certainly qualify as to the nature of such a difficult challenge.
If only the subject matter had been more interesting, this is basically what I was looking for! But not to worry, as this is at least a more viable entry than the many simple abstracts, which to me, belong in a different challenge. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/13/2008 12:51:10 PM | attention grabberby AtsugiComment: Another common use of the blurry mess theme, applied to a simple abstract composition. The colors are a bit blanned, and it's possible a B&W or duo tone would have served this better.
I was looking for more engaging, interesting subject matter, presented with an element of "unplanned" chaos, to preserve the messy aspect more creatively. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/13/2008 12:47:46 PM | Ghosts of the Marble Hallby SureShotsComment: Nice abstract, and a more "pedestrian" aproach to the challenge, since there are many simple abstracts here. It's a fine photo, but needed a more unintended element to sell the messy aspect of the challenge. It's not that I mind some planning here, but there are devices that could be used that are less predictable, and add a fractured, or chaotic element. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 03/13/2008 12:41:33 PM | Ancient Medicineby bruskiComment: This one seems to fit the bill very well, in regard to it's abstract, chaotic and messy composition. I would dare say it is a hair too messy, and could have used just a tiny bit more tuning. The gremlin of this challenge: ...messiest, blurriest, disorganized that you can, and still have it interesting and engaging. I feel like you achieved this to some degree, and have posited an above average submission in this sense. Overall, a fine entry, and I scored accordingly. Many entries are simply messy, and blurry, and don't interest me. This one does, just not overtly.
Good job! | Photographer found comment helpful. |
