the forgottenby disassociationComment by EL-ROI: Makes me want to hurl just looking at them... the drab, dark color really sets the mood for this shot. And that mood is disgust! How do you rate a photo that captures ugly?? |

the forgottenby disassociationComment by aliqui: Why do we always forget to eat strawberries? I just threw away two of those little pints of them and had barely eaten any. Yet, when I went to the store Sunday I bought another bunch. Why do we do this?! |

for mothersby disassociationComment by Crazycowboy311: Need to work on focus, also try to stay simple. Pick one flower and stick with it. You don't want the flowers to fight to be the subject in the frame. |

for mothersby disassociationComment by bassbone: the concept is a good one - soft focus flowers - but the image seems more out of focus as if on accident rather than on purpose |

strawberries and creamby disassociationComment by Paul: Greetings from the Critique Club:
I think this is a pretty well executed shot that probably deserved to do better in voting. You achieved pretty good focus on the dropping strawberry and you offered up a good splash phase too.
There is room for improvement though - the cream is rather greenish in colour and could be corrected; was the bowl green?
Socom's observation about the reuse of the strawberry is a good one and certainly the cream-filled pits of the strawberry detracts from its vibrancy. There's still some movement unsharpness in the cream, I'd like to offer some advice on how to freeze that but my knowledge of flash work is miniscule. I wonder about your aspect ratio too - there does seem to be some spare real estate outside of the area of interest that you might have used to better effect.
Overall though, this is a very good effort.
Paul

when daddy leftby disassociationComment by markwiley: Come on, this was the saddest picture of the lot. This deserved to have placed much higher than 15th. It is an awesome picture. I gave two pictures 8's in this challenge -- yours and the one that won the blue. There were a lot of staged sadness pictures, but this one captures the true emotion. Great job. |
