Floral fantasyby sfaliceComment by pixelpig: At first I thought 'very cautious, slight distortion.' Then, I noticed the black halo & the borders & I thought 'oh it's just the BG that's been distorted into a creamy blur of color.' Interesting approach. I think it works. |

Ah, fun with poppies...you sure look like you enjoyed playing with the colours and deconstructing and reconstructing the poppy in all its intricacies. Nice and symmetrical, fun to look at, but do keep in mind that this is looking more like digital art and less like a photo. Just sayin!

Decent pic, good exposure and the dogwalker is clearly the centre of attention...just wish that there had been more of a sense of being shot from the dog's pov looking up at him, so we could share what the dogs see. Pity he has the shades on, for all the number of dogs and him in the shot, there isn't a single set of eyes for us to help bridge that connection.
Hope this helps

Convergenceby sfaliceComment by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club!
I have to agree with insteps here....I think this image would have benefited from conversion to b/w. This is the kind of image where form is everything, and the colour of the cool clay marbles is a bit of a distraction, because they draw the eye to...nothing! Sorry but nothing going on in the marbles, no wow! factor. There are however still plenty of nice tones and shapes amongst them, try a desat and see how it looks.
Otherwise image fits challenge nicely, the technicals are all there in terms of lighting and comp.
Hope this helps

Because the Earth is for the Birdsby sfaliceComment by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Great subject, can't fault the dof or filling of frame, colours are spot on...but I think that hot wash of white in the middle of the back cost you in terms of score.
Hope this helps!
