First thing that catches my attention is the snow flying. Second is the tilted horizon. I really like the vehicles being out there at the time you took this photo as it adds scope/scale to what would otherwise be hard to judge. Best of luck to you in the challenge.

An interesting entry. The kitty really gives meaning to an otherwise plain image. The DOF is good, but the angle makes it hard to discern where the one step ends and the second begins along the right side. The cat is perhaps the only thing that truly discerns this on the left.
The boards along the top of the image seem a bit too bright - perhaps from the time of day this was shot? Focus seems a little soft.

my eye wants to see the cat lower and further left by half a cat - but that may just make it different, not better. REALLY cool concept - great overall color scheme for me, I really like this. Aren't you glad you didn't seal that deck yet? the weathered wood is really nice. Maybe some dodge and burn to accent that more? there's my two cents, and it might be overpriced at that! :) great work - 7 for now, will revisit
