In the wake of Sandyby nygoldComment by nygold: Thanks everyone for your comments.
Snaffles I don't know if those are real questions or not but since you were nice enough to comment I'll try to answer them.
Not all the areas effected by Sandy were in an area that waves can penetrate and batter homes and such. Many areas are sheltered from the direct impact of the ocean so the water just rises. This causes things to just float around and then get plopped down somewhere else when the tide recedes. My neighbor has a boat in his yard that floated in over his fence and just plopped in his yard. The fence was never touched. While more graphic and destructive pictures are what people want I didn't have any that I took in the challenge window. This challenge started Nov.7th and the storm hit on Oct. 29th. I hope this answers your questions. |

In the wake of Sandyby nygoldComment by snaffles: ...but where's the rest of the devastation? Did Sandy truly manage to plonk a cabin cruiser down in a vacant parking spot or two without damaging any other vehicles, phone poles etc? |

Swing over Liberty Islandby nygoldComment by Paul: (Better late than never but) I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Great catch in mores ways than one! Great silhouettes and a great onward view of the Statue of Liberty. You are right it offers a simple (but effective) story.
Critical stuff: The stuff you already know - still wonky horizon and rather flat tones (your image carries it though)
Overall: I like it! |
