This looks underexposed and unevenly lit. The framing of the headstone feels uncomfortable. I think that you'd be better off centering the image, or placing it about a third of the way from the edge; some additional breathing room above the tombstone would be nice too. Rendering this in B&W was a good choice, but the low contrast muddies the textures (which look like they might have otherwise been a strong compositional element). Adding some noise would have given this image a more nostalgic feel, which I think would have reinforced the mood.

What a wonderful feeling this photo generates! A very Victorian flavor, imho. It may be my favorite of the contest so far!

I think a closer crop on the bottom and left side would strengthen this image quite a bit

I think that this is a great picture. I love how only half of her face is showing. Her eyes look sooo good with her color hair. You did a great job at capturing the detail. My only suggestion would have been to go even closer. Since this was a macro challenge it would have been nice to really zoom on that beautiful green eye with the orange lashes. Cats have great eyes and look really good in macro shots. But like you mentioned, she doesn't like her picture taken, so that probably wasn't possible. Cats can be such Divas!!! Technically, the image is great. I hope this was helpful to you. Good luck in future challenges.

ya need at least two graves for a family.

Okay, ya got me, I won't change the score, that was based on the shot, but, yes family can be one. I was looking at the old grave, and thinking family plot (all of my ancesters graves I have visited are family plots back to 1810s. Yes families visit or try to find graves of family. So it fits better now.

I will not mark a great effort like this down, to me it is just one of the most beautiful shots of such a somber topic.

striking image...the middle seems a bit "hot" to me, but the shot meets the challenge well. Love the colors and texture of the shade
