Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is a fun shot and I like to play with studio splash stuff too sometimes, and make my own props, so this resonated favourably with me. Usually I have a helluva mess to clean up afterwards but that's part of the fun! Exposure is well done, blackfield is always fun to play with and your settings are pretty much bang on.

There's no doubt that it's a liquid in motion, so it meets the challenge, but I think it's the odd appley little surfer that threw a lot of people off, possibly the oof spray of water on the left top too. Unless a figure is indisputedly 'there' in the shot, and easy to see as a surfer, it's a hard sell. May I suggest looking at some of Ecce_Signum's work, though his shots tend to be much more controlled, you can indeed see figures in the water.

Hope this slightly late critique helps draw you back into the DPC fold!

I think you did an ok job matching Mark's style. These challenges are always hard to match the styles. There is a well defined subject....good DOF...Nice lighting. This ends up making a nice black & white. Good job

I don't like baby shots and this image shows exactly why: The baby, she is gorgeous, those eyes, wow! The image is crisp and the use of a shallow depth of field is sublime. But why put on such a sad kind of lace cap (if that's the correct description). To me it really takes away the beauty of this image.
