Really liked the image and composition, but not a fan of the selective desaturation which, to me, does not suit the image or contribute anything meaningful.

Greetings from the Critique Club.

As usual, you have presented a clean and well-composed image, clickodak.
except for just a little color at the bottom of the egg, this image looks nice in black and white.
However, in competition, this may have been a drawback, as it just is not very exciting.

I do wonder what it would have looked like with a more colorful background. And then, the tines
of the fork appear to be a bit worn and well, not beautiful. They did not act as a perfect foil
for that very symmetrical egg.

so, while the lighting was good and the composition was good, the overall effect was not exciting.

And you use color very, very well in your work.

*Greetings from the Critique Club*

Compositionally, most of the image works for me. I enjoyed the pattern in the glass, and the interesting color pattern behind the glass. Also, I like the tilted perspective. What I struggled a bit with was the lack of any point of interest behind the glass. Yet the glass itself did not feel like the whole story to me.

Technically I think the sharpness and clarity of the glass was well done. I thought the light behind the glass was quite nice, but the light on the glass seemed a bit flat.

I think your image may suffered in the challenge primarily due to a questionable 'organic' basis. Organic to me says created by nature. Glass comes from nature, but is processed by name. I also struggled to come up with any geometry in nature that would have the square pattern seen in your glass. (During voting, I didn't score it as a DNMC since glass indeed originates from nature - and I liked the unique perspective you captured. But I did think it was a bit of a reach.)

Thanks for such a thoughtful image for us to consider.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Yay, I get to critique a fellow Canuck...but also a PB and an HM finish...no pressure ;-) And as also am very familiar with maples and tap some of mine for sirop d'erable each spring, I appreciate the backlit red maple leaves.

Nice composition and lighting (though be careful, some may have thought this a tiny bit underexposed and voted accordingly). Lovely rich saturated colours, especially on the leaves, nice sharp detail on the droplets and the cool green/blue tones of the background which complement the scarlet perfectly...hard to pick holes in this one!

Great work, continue to shoot and please continue to enter challenges!

Hope this critique has been of help, feel free to PM me,

Susan

Very nice display of geometry but the organic element seems to be missing.

Hello from the critique club....

ok the 1st thing I saw was the motion blur. As noted in your previous comments....That was prob because the person holding it was unsteady. Also in this case I think the hands are somewhat distracting.

On a different note... you chose an excellent subject. It matches the challenge perfectly. I did not vote on this challenge but if I did I would probably give it a 5.
