i really do love the texture of dogs' noses. black and white works very nicely for this shot. I might try a different composition, though. maybe try to highlight the interesting contours of the dog's nose, because you don't really need teh carpet in there.

I think the actual nose bit could have been sharper (focus that is, not physically) could you have just shown the nose or does your camera not do macro that close.

looking at the carpet, your DOF seems to be very narrow, just a little more if possible (it may not be with the macro shot) would be nice. the dog's nose is such a great idea for texture, but it is too dark. short of making the dog move (never works), would there have been a way of changing the lighting so that the texture of the nose became more visible? -- gr8photos (4)
