An appealing image that contributes well to the challenge
The motion blur works really well here, I like it. What also makes it work so well is your timing with the small aperture to create that dynamic starburst effect in exactly the right place. The balance of the runner and the lighthouse is good, even the exaggerated swing of the arms also creates a further dynamic all finished off nicely with that huge grin it results in an original and appealing image, well done Yao. |

Very imaginative and creative image, the pins do a wonderful job of doubling for balloons. The colours are nice and poppy and the woody's pose adds fun and whimsy to the shot. Now for the nitpicky part...lighting is a bit flat with little contrast to add dimension esp to the woody. The surface on which the woody and pins are placed is neutral enough to not compete, but the hot spots of white glare at the top of the surface does fight the balloon/pins for the viewer's eye, esp as the black bg helps to point out the glare. Composition is OK but could be a little more dynamic; I find the white bg constrains the action too much. I want to see a sense of freedom, but feel restrained instead.
Overall a very good idea, but the execution needs a little more thought and work. Hope this critique has been of help, feel free to PM me with any questions and please keep shooting and entering.

Out of boundby kaiyangComment by ciaeagle: Greetings from the Critique Club!
First Impression: Gorgeous, even with the barbed wire. ;) Love the pastels and the ability to see down into the lake as well as the reflection on the smooth surface.
Challenge: At first I questioned the entry for this challenge ... to me a jetty is a barrier used for water flow control. But I googled it and the second definition indicates that boats can also dock at a jetty. So in that regard, definitely empty! But this picture seems so full of interesting things to look at and beautiful colors it's still hard for me to equate it with emptiness. Based on the updated definition though ... I'm game.
Composition, Details, Etc: I love how the empty jetty (see I'm learning!) leads the eye off into the distance to encounter those wonderful trees on the distant shore. The shore in turn pulls the eye to the warm sun-touched clouds. I LOVE that I can see the rocks under the water. This picture is so clear I even found myself looking for a fish down there photo-bombing the serenity of the scene.
