Great shot. Have you had 20 comments saying its underexposed? It is, and done very well. I like it just like this. Too bad the water wasn't a little calmer. Great shot.

Jon - I said " I needed to use the burn tool" not That "I did...". Read the comment I left after voting and there is a link to the version I "would have liked to have posted" i.e. after using the burn tool to take out the hotspot.

Cheers

"Ruins of a Norman Motte & Bailey Castle built by William the conqueror. REALLY needed to use the burn tool on this due to the hotspot in the middle."

and no one challenged this? the burn tool is a spot editing tool. did the rules change without me noticing?

Wow, thanks for all the wonderfull comments. Lots of questions too. Well, as in the details, it's the ruins of a very old (about 800 yrs funnily enough) castle near where I live. Yes' it is IR and yes, it was shot using a Hoya R72 filter - the cheapest I could find. There's not a lot more to say really.

As for overexposed/blown out in the centre. Yep - unfortunately my camera isn't the best for IR shots. The lens configuration causes a 'hotspot' in the centre of the image. Keeping the lens open as much as possible and as wide as possible keeps it to a minimum, otherwise it shows up as a hard edged over exposed circle. Most times it can be overcome by using the burn tool but obviously that would be against the rules.

A copy that has been touched up can be seen here.
