I would prefer to see a close-up of a specific feature of/on the doll. Maybe see a study of the contrast between her smooth face and unruly hair. There isn't much to this shot as is. No character to the doll. Maybe do something more interesting with lights, if possible.

I believe that oversharpening may have been a problem with this image. Next time, use less amount or more threshold if you were using Un-Sharp Mask.

There is a harsh shadow on the wall which can be avoided by placing the subject several feet from the wall. Also this is very over sharpened - the dress and the hair particularly. Because of the fine texture of the dress it lends itself to oversharpening. Being aware of the textures of thingss when you take the shot can help. For example, knowing that this dress would not tolerate sharpening very well, I would have ensured tack sharp focus on the face in camera, so as not to have to rely on post processing. 4

the shadow is distracting-to solve that prob. if u don't have studio lighting give the subject just a little backlighting.

also not the gray scale that i desire to see in a B&W image

Definately qualifies for the challenge in my opinion. The subject isn't making me jump out of my seat with excitement, however, I think it is technically well done. Focus and clarity are ok, maybe a little too centered for my personal tastes. The bright area near the center top of the photo is a bit of a distraction. ~Heather~
