Novemberby dwolffComment by gruvin: This exposure depicts waning summer light and cooler autum skies beautifully. I might have wanted to see a little more clear sky in the the top-left corner - just for "balance" and to give a more "cool" effect over the warm autum colours of the leaves. An an easy 8. Well done. |

Novemberby dwolffComment by myqyl: Conceptually i like this (even though I live where leaves never turn)... But it seems to lack "wow"... Maybe coming in closer on fewer leaves? Or further back for the whole tree? This just didn't stun me... Also, the focus seems a tad soft... But that's just me, and what do I know? :) |

Daughterby dwolffComment by Artifacts: This image obviously did not convey the sense of complexity to most voters and that was why it was voted so undeservingly low... as was true of most images submitted of people in this particular challenge.
I liked the way you composed the picture and it has decent quality so I scored it a 6. Overall, it is a good picture.
I made no comment on it during the challenge but if I had I would have made two suggestions for improvement...
One, shoot at a higher aperture for greater DOF. That way all the hair on your daughter's head would be in sharp focus. I don't think going the other way around with the shallowest DOF possible focused off the eye would have worked as well, but that would be worth a try too.
Two, either shoot her further from the wall or use your photoediting tool to make a smooth white background. The mottling in the background is a little distracting. |

Leslie's Concoctionby dwolffComment by scalvert: Ewww. Not a very appealing image, and the focus could be sharper. No offense, but you should always try to shoot a subject that the voters will WANT to see. |

Leslie's Concoctionby dwolffComment by Donald: Is this where budding archeologists experience the thrill of digging through layers of unknown material in need of identification and later food for thought? Some of the forground towards the left being out of focus was distracting but the top blue colors livened up the scenery. The lighting is effective at demontrating uneven surface. I liked the transition between the top right darks against the lower left lighter noodles. Thanks. Now I'm hungry. |
