There is always a lot of discussion about the way people vote. So if you are checking to see what kind of voter I am, I can tell you - I am a very emotional voter. and by and large, a pretty easy voter. Technical issues have little to do with the way I vote.
I like everything from landscape to abstract, from pet "snaps" to nudes. Further insight:
I normally use the voting range from 4 to 10. And I give out as many 10's (or 8's or 9's, etc.) as deserve them, I don't ration them out.
If I feel that a "nude" or "semi-nude" is just gratuitous nudity, (just an excuse to get a naked shot into the challenge), it will get a 1.
I generally vote photos of toys, knick-knacks, and that sort of thing low, unless there is something compelling about the shot.
If a photo is repulsive or disgusting to me, or is in bad taste, it will get a 1. And NO, it's not because it "reached" me, or "moved" me - it's because it is repulsive, disgusting, or in bad taste.
I enjoy the voting and commenting process, but don't always have the time to comment. When I vote a challenge, I nearly always vote 100%. I go back and comment as time permits, and sometimes vote images "up", when back for a good long look.
I don't mind PM's during the challenge, as long as you are not cursing me or brutalizing me for the comment or vote that I gave you. Have I had PM's during a challenge that changed my perspective on a photo? Yes, I have. Have I changed my vote? Rarely.
I am 62, about to be 63, quite happily and contentedly married to a wonderful man. I have 2 Miniature Pinschers who model for me all the time, grudgingly. I am currently traveling with my husband while he travels for his job. I work mostly from home doing graphic design (logos, print ads, worship graphics, CD covers), photography, dabble a bit in web design, and have several websites.
I've been an artist most of my life, and as far as paying the bills over the years - these are just a few of the jobs I've had: OTR truck driver, a commercial nuclear power plant Radiation Protection Technician, a dog groomer and grooming shop owner, an artist, a bartender, a "juggie" on a seismic reasearch crew (nothing to do with Jimmy Kimmel!), and a real estate photographer (which is what ended me up where I am now, "obsessed" with photography, and my photography "stuff").
I have discovered that I love photographing people more than anything else, most especially children.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot: I HATE WOODYS (or is it WOODIES?)
I just realized that looking at the photographers profiles, I am #52. I know, it doesn't "mean" anything, I just like it. |
