Tough score here man. I don't normally read the other comments before eposting mine but I noticed you had 11 and I was curious as to the response. You got some really excellent critiques in challenge and I will echo most of them here.
This doesn't really fit the challenge. At least not in the way DPC voters were looking for. The focus is wierd with some branches kind of in the middle being out of focus. And ultimately you have no real center of focus, no main point of interest which will not keep people at your image for longer than it takes to hit a score.
You have some really nice plant and flower images in your portfolio. This unfortunately just isnt one of them. Keep shooting and entering, the scores are bound to go up. Goo dluck!

Cactiby psartComment by sfalice: Greetings from the Critique Club
I love to see these cacti,especially when they are in bloom or have all that colorful fruit clinging to the edges of the paddles.
You did get some nice lights and darks in this image, and it comes close to making it as a pattern shot. However, I think digitalknight was on the mark with his comments which i won't belabor.
When I glanced at your portfolio, I noted you have some lovely pictures of the Arizona desert. I hope you continue to find and submit them to future Challenges. |

Arizona Skylineby psartComment by eamurdock: I really like the colors and the idea of the abstraction; I think it doesn't work on a couple of levels, though;
1st, there's no focal point to the image; my eye wanders but can't find a place to rest.
2nd, since most of the flowers are in focus, the bunches close to the camera that aren't are distracting.
I'd rather see one flower, or a few, in focus much closer to the camera, and the background a blur from yellow to blue. |

Cactiby psartComment by cpanaioti: Yellow is one of the hardest colours to get good detail in, especially in bright light. The composition works here however I think the light is too harsh to do the cactus flower justice. |
