Strummingby rscorpComment by gerdagrice: Beautiful composition, cropping and lighting in this shot, Robert. I especially like the beautiful diagonal formed by the "highlighted" edge of the guitar neck and the lighting on the model's hair. |

Tivoli Stairwayby rscorpComment by cbeller: This is a great image. I believe the duotone really makes this photo, but I am kinda partial to B&W and duo/quadtones. This would make an excellent print. Message edited by author 2004-12-11 13:10:11. |

Black topby rscorpComment by Azrifel: What I like about this portrait is the contrast of greys (as in colors). Your model's hair and skintone is great. In this photo the hair matches the shirt and the skin tone comes close to the background tone. I don't know how, but it works. And then you've got those dark eyes. They match the hair tone. It pulls me in as a viewer, it makes me connect with the person portrayed = good.
Pose and look says: Strength, power.
DOF = good.
Bokeh = reasonable.
The only thing that I don't like is that there seems to be an aura around the head that often comes with sloppy dodging. |

Strummingby rscorpComment by MrYu: I would move the camera to the right, about 1/4th of the frame. Would make it a less of a symmetric composition and will help get rid of the hand on the left that looks alien as it is. Otherwise excellent. |

Strummingby rscorpComment by Cantique: Very peaceful quality. Your title is good too as strumming is a quieter activity than other ways to play the guitar. |

Strummingby rscorpComment by Zoomdak: I have seen other duotone shots in this challenge, but this has had the stongest color of them yet. Not technically a "palette of grays" but it isn't a color shot either. It's monocrome. Now I'm in a moral dillemma over voting on this image. Ok: "Awsome shot, but the duotone will bump you down a bit." |

Tivoli Stairwayby rscorpComment by just-married: Terrific. I've been browsing your portfolio after coming across one of your portraits. This is quite well done, especially as you've just begun experimenting with duotones. The tonality and contrast of this photo really accentuate the composition. Very nicely done. |

Gallery Portraitby rscorpComment by just-married: Wow. This is just fantastic. I've been looking at it for 20 minutes. I love the way you've made the girl (who in my imagination is the painter) look painted, while keeping the realistic element of the paintings themselves. Worthy of hanging. |

Strummingby rscorpComment by KDO: I like the lighting, the framing and the contrast of the smooth texture of her skin and the fabric on her shoulder. I don't feel that you captured any emotion from your subject. I think when an artist captures and is able to communicate the emotion of a subject, it makes a photograph transcend the 2-dimensional limits of the frame. That, for me, is the only thing that would make this photo better. |
