The composition in this photo is simply excellent and is the foundation supporting everything else. The only issues that I can see are the DOF and the distracting glare. For this shot I don't mind the out of focus foreground, in fact, this is one of the few where I think it actually supports the shot, good job. However, I would like a bit more DOF for the strings as we look down them so as to keep the form of the parallel lines farther down the neck. Good job on this one, I really enjoy the creative vision that has gone into it.

Much too out of focus for my taste. "Something Old" is not the first thing that I think about when I see this shot - perhaps a different angle would show more of the age/patina of the instrument. lhall

Very very very shallow DOF shot. Not sure it works out too well here since the focus point seems to be just beyond the bridge. Would have been nice to see the bridge in focus too. Interesting lighting and angle. Bit of a glare in the middle foreground.

The focus area is too far out of the picture. It almost seems like an accident. Why did you choose that spot. Whatever you want your viewer to look at is the area that should be in focus, and your area appears to be right behind the bridge.

I like what you attempted here, tho I think this image needs more light, or more accents of light to really be effective, maybe some incandescent lights to add some warmth?

musical instruments are so hard to do. this one looks quite old and i'm sure its really quite interesting...however, this doesn't come through well in the photo. in fact, i'm not at all sure what it is? a sitar? in any case, the lighting is quite harsh, and it would have been nice to see more of the subject matter. ~mcmurma
