Interesting idea. May or may not take some hits for not actually being a bird, but I like the colors and contrasts in this shot.

Lordy, lordy. Way too funny but so appropriate for the site! But incognito? Isn't it a catbird sitting in the catbird seat?! The very best of luck.

Ok. I have to vote on this or it's going to keep coming back over and over and over again....and it was really only funny the first time.

Obviously a "captive" species, you cold have perhaps controlled the light a bit better. The double reflections in the eyes give the subject a startled look. Perhaps a little cloning to remove the distraction? The pupils could have been darkened too.

Good detail on the forehead, but as the beak and foreground feathers are slightly out of focus (or soft) increasing depth of field may have enhanced the detail. Difficult to shoot monochromatic feathers with a contrasting, but also monochromatic, fur and retain detail. Not bad for what must have been a hasty attempt.

Theatrically speaking, perhaps you were going for the appeal of an owl-like bird. However, it seems you might have been more successful, on the whole (imo), had you obscured the ears as they are not a prominent feature of avian species.

I understand that this particular type of bird can have rather sharp talons....I sincerly hope you didn't find ou the hard way . . . . :)
