Failby GeorgeComment by MelonMusketeer: Just a little condensation on the lens can cause the soft focus too. It's happened to me at times. There is almost always a street light or tower light within view near the horizon here in S Florida. I find that and focus on it.
Another option is to focus as well as I can by eyeballing the brightest star, then shoot one and look at it zoomed in the LCD.
That was fortunate timing to "catch a falling star" ! |

Regarding the saved details, it does that automatically unless you tell it not to. The most common way to strip the EXIF data is to do a save-for-web, because that excises the data. But it can be done from menu also. |
